Good afternoon!
We are in the final stretch of the 2022-2023 school year, and it feels like it is absolutely flying by! As we finish the month of March, here are some things you might want to know.
Make-Up School Day
This Friday, March 31st, will be a typical school day to make up for one of our earlier snow days. Schools will operate on a regular schedule, but if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact your school office.
CCSD#1 School Board Meeting
Typically, the school board meets on the third Monday of each month, but in April, the meeting will be on Monday, April 24th, at Central Office in Sundance. Be sure to mark your calendars and make plans to join us. Of course, you can always view the minutes from the previous meetings online.
Consolidated Grant Meeting
Every year, CCSD receives six different federal grants that help our students and staff in various ways. Some of these grants allow us to provide extra reading and writing help for our students. Some help with CTE classes. Others help offer services to our special education population and for training our staff. Since they are federal grants, they involve close monitoring and quite a lot of paperwork, but they make a significant difference in the quality of education our students receive. As we plan how to use those funds best, we invite you to join us in that process. On April 11th at 4 pm, there will be a meeting where you can learn about these different grants and then provide input. The meeting will be at Central Office in Sundance, or you can join via Zoom and watch from the comfort of your own home. Either way, let us know your opinion. You can learn more about the meeting and complete our survey online at www.crook1.com/grants.
Superintendent’s Student Council
Earlier this year, Mr. Broderson, CCSD Superintendent, sat down with six students from our three high schools and had a great discussion. These six students comprise the newly formed Superintendent’s Student Council. The conversation was lively as each of the students discussed ways to make our school district even better. They gathered input from their peers and came prepared with phenomenal ideas to share. It was impressive to witness the passion these students have for their schools. They were thoughtful and articulate and gave some fantastic feedback. As Mr. Broderson left that meeting, he commented that it was one of his best days this year. This was just a tiny sampling, but there is no doubt that our district is filled with outstanding young men and women who are and will continue to do great things! We should be very proud of the quality of students that fill our schools. It truly is an honor to have the opportunity to educate each one of these kids!
